The conversion of conventional steel mills from coke-oven/blast furnace to arc furnace and scrab recycling will happen. A new business area and supply-chain innovation will develop around the future raw-material for these steel mills. Countries with high grade iron ore and large renewable power potential like Ukraine can supply these steelmills at home and abroad with HBI (hot briquetted iron) or DRI (direct reduced iron). This will avoid 90 % of the carbon footprint of future steelmaking, supports the conversion of fossil to green steel and offers a huge value added compared to iron-ore export for Ukraine.
