Industrial wood company based on the old family business Steinbrügge & Berninghausen founded 1889. Carl managed a turn around from 1995-1999 and restructured the company with a Management Buy-In in 2021. Today Bremer Holzwerke is a healthy SME with planer mill and surface treatment plant, located in the city habour of Bremen. 50+ employees.

Today Sunfire is the world leader in high-temperature electrolysis for hydrogen and syngas – single raw material for e-fuel and e-chemicals. 600+ employees and growing rapidly.

Founded as a Sunfire Spin-Off by Carl Berninghausen in his capacity as Sunfire CEO in 2020. Carl Berninghausen ran Norsk e-fuel as Chairman until 2023, achieving a 48 mio. company valuation and than handed over to the new majority shareholder SMS. Norsk e-Fuel will start the first Power-to-Liquid Plant for 50 mio. liter of e-Fuel 2025 in Mosjoen/Norway and hence a series of 100 mio. liter facilities in that area. Norsk e-Fuel will help to facilitate clean aviation primarily but also road transport and chemistry. 7 employees and growing.

The purpose of the foundation is to protect the local habitat for amphibia and to promote best in class scientific education in Bremen. The Berninghausen Award for excellence in scientific teaching at University Bremen is well recognized and has a tradition of more than 30 years.
